Southern Seafood & Crab Festival

If you’re a seafood lover and you’re available August 13, you may not want to miss this! Lake City is hosting their Southern Seafood and Crab Festival at the Lake City Fairgrounds from 10 am – 7 pm. I’ve never been to Lake City’s seafood festival, but if it’s anything like the one in St. Augustine, I suggest you be there as soon as the gates swing open. I arrived at St. Augustine’s Seafood Festival around 6 pm, only to find lines that were about a quarter of a mile long. I kid you not. I was only able to eat from 1.5 vendors because the lines were so long. The .5 comes from the gumbo my boyfriend jumped out of line to purchase because we were hungry and the line refused to move. I guess that’s what I get for being fashionably late.

After doing a little digging around, I found a list of some of the vendors. They are as follows: Crabs in a Bucket, Best Catch Seafood, Leola’s Crab Shack, and JT’s Seafood, Ribs, and More. I have not had Leola’s since I was living in Tallahassee, so I definitely have to hit them up!!! As I learn of new vendors, I will update them here.

As with any other event, the event will take place rain or shine. Y’all know this Florida weather is unpredictable, so I advise you to bring an umbrella and throw some galoshes in the trunk. It may make more sense to bring a poncho instead so you can make use of both hands. I searched for admission prices, and unfortunately, the $10 early bird tickets are sold out. HOWEVER, I found admission tickets on groupon!!! For four (4) people, the groupon is $27 total, and for two (2), the total price is $14. If you purchase the groupon today, you get an additional $1 off. This will bring the total price to $6.50 per person! That’s cheaper than the early bird prices. And if the event is weak, you won’t feel as bad because you didn’t pay as much for it. Don’t say I never helped you out!!! Now, let me go purchase my groupon before they’re sold out! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this groupon expires in 7:41:26 hours! As we say when we play spades, “study long, study wrong!” You better jump on this!
